Throughout her career she has project managed news coverage and feature series, including special events, from conception to broadcast/online delivery. Reporting roles saw her cover breaking news, court cases and original in-depth features for BBC Radio Four, BBC Local Radio Stations and BBC News Interactive. Catherine also has experience as a newsreader in BBC and ILR newsrooms.
Catherine has been working as a producer for the BBC’s national rolling news networks, the BBC News Channel and BBC Radio 5 live. She re-joined the BBC in 2008. Since this time her duties have included working on the 2010 election coverage, coordinated coverage of major world disasters and de-bunked the financial and political crisis for a range of audiences.
Prior to this she worked freelance for a couple of years. After taking that decision she worked almost exclusively for BBC Radio 5live as a producer on news programming – responsible for the coverage of breaking stories and in-depth discussions. Catherine has also presented a report for BBC Radio Four’s Farming Today.
Whilst freelance she worked as an online reporter/producer for the Times newspaper (Times Online), wrote articles for Total Politics magazine, presented and produced corporate podcasts and conducted media coaching, including guest lecturing at Nottingham Trent University.
A spell at the Daily Telegraph, saw her develop the podcast and online audio strategy. A regular presenter and producer of a daily news podcast, special series and audio for online she is confident in making independent editorial and deployment decisions.
Prior to this she was a staff journalist with the BBC News website for four years. During this time she also collaborated with BBC local radio producing value added content for both mediums.
